Children/Youth

• Sunday School

First Presbyterian Church offers church school for all ages 2 years old through high school. Our goal is to provide effective and quality Christian Education to all ages. During church school, the children are taught lessons using the bible about God, Jesus, and how to lead a good moral life. Students begin worship with their family at 10:30am, then after God"s Word with Children, the children go to their individual classrooms. They then rejoin their families at Coffee Hour at 11:45am.

 

• Vacation Bible School

  Vacation Bible School is offered every summer for a week in conjunction with Bethany Methodist Church. The children and youth are offered an opportunity to spend a week together learning God’s word through games, crafts, song, and fellowship.

• Nursery Care

A nursery care room is available, and staffed with volunteers.

• Confirmation

Confirmation is offered every other year for 7^th and 8^th graders. Confirmation is an opportunity for the youth to further explore their faith and decide if they are ready to become of member of the Presbyterian Church.

• Kids Depot

Kids Depot is a pre-school organization that rents space in the church. They offer a program for children ages 15 months to Kindergaten during the weekday. The program is available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30am to 12:00pm. The program offers time for parents to conduct errands and appointments while the children are entertained.

 

The children and youth are a valuable part of our church. Children and youth have opportunities to become involved in the church.

Heifer Project is spearheaded by the children and youth. The children raise money to purchase cows, rabbits, chickens, sheep, and other livestock animals and plants to give to families in need in the USA and around the world. All individuals who receive an animal from Heifer Project promises to give the first offspring to another individual or family in need in their community. This way the gift keeps on giving and the children continue to give the initial gifts.

  

Youth Sunday-Each year the children have an opportunity to prepare and present the entire service.

  

Acolytes-The children and youth can light and extinguish the worship candles.

  

Serving in service-for those children who can read, they have the opportunity be liturgist for a Sunday and participate in dramatic readings. Readers and non-readers alike participate in service with their classmates by reciting the 23^rd Psalm, the Apostle’s Creed, or singing songs.

Opportunities for Adults

If you desire to be an active part of the church’s children and youth program there are ample opportunities and you would be warmly welcomed. You are welcome to join Education Council, become a school teacher, assist with Heifer Project, assist with Youth Fellowship
